New Balance Sale - IM703DBN Survey – Knysna Big 5 Fund Racer

Annual New Balance Sale

It’s that time of the year!  The Annual New Balance Sale is on now and ends on 17 July.  You can visit any of these stores for some great deals:  Canal Walk, Diep River Outlet Store, Kenilworth Access Park and Kuils River Access Park.

Ironman 70.3 On-Line Survey

A reminder to all members who have recently done an Ironman 70.3 event, to please complete our post Ironman 70.3 on-line survey.  Durban wasn’t the only event to be turned into a Duathlon.  The Luxembourg swim was cancelled due to a flooding river and in Pescara, Italy, the swim was called off after the first couple of swim waves had already started, the race was neutralised and re-started as a Duathlon.  The weather remains the one factor that neither race organisers nor athletes have any control over and we fully support cancellation in the interest of athlete safety, even if it is seemingly an err on the side of caution.  It is very short but you can also elaborate as much as you like:

Further down there is a preview of how Triathletes have responded thus far.  The full survey results, along with our Members’ results, will be published in our next monthly newsletter.

IRONMAN TriClub

Atlantic Triathlon Club is currently ranked 7th in the World!  This is after only half of our Triathletes who did Durban were actually registered with TriClub.  If you have done an Ironman event this year and have not yet registered, you can still register now and log your points for past events.  The system will automatically find your points for previous events.  TriClub membership is free and it only takes a few minutes to register.
If you have a problem with registration, reply to this email and we’ll assist.

EVENTS:  Details here...

Knysna Big 5 Sports Challenge – Oyster Festival
Last week we handed back the Big 5 Sports Challenge Club Trophy so it can be returned to Knysna for this year’s challenge, which starts with an 80 or 50 Km Mountain Bike Ride on Saturday.  On Sunday, athletes can choose between the Knysna Dragons Lagoon Nautical Mile and the Knysna Road Cycle Tour.  Members tasked with ensuring that the trophy is retuned to ATC after the Big 5, which concludes with the Knysna Forest Marathon and Half on Saturday 9 July, are listed further down in the email.  We wish all these members good luck and an enjoyable Oyster Festival!
There are already reports coming through of the nasty stomach bug that seems to plague Knysna this time of year.  Please take the necessary precaution to avoid this race-stopper.

Be a Big 5 FundRacer!
For this year’s BIG5, or any of the Oyster Festival sports events, you can become a FundRacer!  The process is simple and you can either:
It’s a very easy process and doesn’t cost anything to register.  All the funds raised go towards the Knysna Education Trust (KET).  KET provides 43 affiliated pre-schools, within the greater Knysna and Sedgefield communities, with the necessary programs, skills development, on site coaching and mentoring, to capacitate educators to deliver quality pre-school education in a safe and stimulating environment.

Other Events:

The Cross Country league resumes on Saturday with the 6th event, taking place at the Nantes Recreational Park, Bridgetown.  Also on Saturday, the Kogelberg Biosphere Half Marathon takes place in Kleinmond.

The Clifton 1SOMS, 1 Mile Swim, takes place on Sunday at the winter start time of 10:00.

Future Events:

Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

The marathon supports projects including; Greenpop Urban Greening and Reforestation; The Wonderbag Project; Joburg Waste to Energy Project; and the Basa Magogo Project.

Entries for the Marathon close at midnight on the 5th of September 2016, or when the maximum entry limit of 7000 has been reached.

See you on the road, track or trail!
