ATC Sunset Team Time Trial:
It’s all systems go for the ATC Sunset Team Time Trial on Thursday and entries are just about sold out. We only have a few slots available for late entries on the day. You can run for free as part of a helper’s team and compete in a separate category. Please Click Here to Volunteer for this category.
Open Ocean Festival:
There will be two Open Water Swims during the Volvo Ocean Race Cape Town stopover at Quay 6 in the V&A Waterfront. On Wednesday 5 November there will be a 4 x 200 Meter Team Relay and on 12 November a Sunset Mile for individuals. For more details, please contact: derrick@bigbayevents.co.za
RESULTS & FEEDBACK:
Congratulations to all the riders who finished the PPA One Tonner on Sunday!
Jay Richards broke another SA Masters record and received his SA Colours at the South African Short Course Gala Championships on Sunday. Jay set the SA Masters Record for the 50 SC Butterfly (35-39) at 27.3 seconds.
Congratulations to Henri Schoeman for winning the ITU World Cup event, held in Tongyeong City, Japan, on the weekend.
TRAINING THIS WEEKEND:
Canal Swim: On Friday the V&A Canal Swim will start promptly at 06:00. NOTE that we are pushed for time to be done and packed up by 07:00, so please arrive early and be ready to swim at 06:00.
Tuesday Track: Track will be this evening at 18:00 on the field below The Bungalow. A reminder that there is now also a session on Tuesday mornings at 06:00.
Thursday Ride: We will ride from the Point Virgin Active on Thursday morning at 05:30.
Tuesday Mountain Bike: These rides continue on Tuesday mornings from the Wembley Virgin Active at 05:30.
There is no trail run on Thursday evening this week due to the ATC Sunset Team Time Trial taking place.
There is no training scheduled for this weekend due to the Slanghoek Triathlons.
EVENTS:
TRI: Well over 150 ATC’ers will join extra-large fields his weekend at one or more of the Slanghoek Off and Road Triathlons. Organisers have made extra slots available for the road triathlon so the Slanghoek valley will be the place to be this weekend.

On Sunday the XTERRA World Championship take place in Maui, Hawaii. Good luck to Gareth Sayers who will be competing as an age grouper.
BIKE: The CWC Durbie Dash, formerly known as the Durbanville Funride, will take place on Saturday in Durbanville. There are road and mountain bike routes on offer.
The Cape Town leg of the Engen Cycle in the City series is taking place on Saturday in Green Point. It is an exciting criterium racing festival, with multiple categories to cater for families, amateurs, corporates and professionals alike.
The Buffet Olives Trail Mountain Bike race takes place on Sunday in Franschoek with routes ranging from 5 to 42 Kilometres.
RUN: The Ultra Trail Cape Town takes place on Saturday with trails ranging from 14 to 100 Kilometres all converging kin the City Bowl.
Also on Saturday, there is another major trail run out on the Matroosberg with routes ranging from 14 to 50 Kilometres.
The Stellenbosch Farm Race is an undulating 10 Km run through five picturesque wine estates on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. With free wine tasting. This is a pre-entry only event and entries close on Thursday 23 October.
The Buffet Olives Trail Run takes place on Saturday in Franschoek with routes ranging from 5 to 25 Kilometres.
The Worcester Voorsieners Half Marathon takes place on Saturday in Worcester.
Out in Botrivier there are various Mountain Bike, Trail and Road runs on offer as part of the Van Der Stel Pass Challenge.
FUTURE EVENTS:
We have been approached by a number of teams looking for riders for their Double Century Teams. If you are still keen to do this event, please let us know. The end-date for team changes 7 November, so teams must be finalised by then. Thereafter any changes will cost R 200 per change.
