NEWS:
ATC Year-End / Awards
This year has run away from us, so we will have our Awards function early in the new year. Most likely in February but we will send out final plans in January. To celebrate year-end, join us for our annual pub run, next Tuesday, 12 December. We will start from the Green Point Cricket Club at 18:00. If you can’t start with us, follow us on social media and meet up at one of the other stops.
Ironman PE Orientation
Next Wednesday, 6 December, Embark will host an orientation evening for Ironman Africa Championships, taking place in April 2018. The evening will start just after our Track session and will cover training programs, travel arrangements and the race itself. All are welcome to attend.

Congratulations to everyone who finished the mammoth Double Century on Saturday! It was a huge success for ATC with all out teams finishing with all 12 riders. We will have full results in the next full newsletter. For now, we would like to first and foremost thank our supporters: Amanda Bloch, Hazel McQueen, Jessica Hopley, Leonie Hurter, Lindsay Cilliers, Lisa Lawson and Zameer Osman.
TRAINING: Details here...
We will publish training times for the festive period next week. For now, the schedule is still standard.

SWIM: The V&A Waterfront has threatened to start clamping cars parked illegally or in reserved bays within the small parking lot, adjacent to our swim start. Unfortunately, swimmers are parking in reserved bays, inconveniencing people who arrive for work early. Swimmers are also parking illegally restricting access to the area. We cannot allow this behaviour to jeopardise our use of this crucial facility and have therefore taken the decision that NO SWIMMERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARK ANYWHERE IN THIS PARKING LOT. There are only three unreserved bays in this lot and these will be used by members working at the swim. Swimmers are advised to park in the parking garages adjacent to the Aquarium or Silos, which is only a two-minute walk from the swim start. This parking will cost around R10. Cars parked illegally elsewhere in the Waterfront will also be clamped. Please plan an extra few minutes into your trip as the swim start is now at 06:00 and nobody will be allowed to start swimming after 06:10. We need to clear the area by 07:00.
BIKE: On Thursday morning, at 05:30, we will do a road bike ride from Point Virgin Active.
We will not have a training ride this weekend due to the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour.
RUN: We will have a Track session on Tuesday mornings at 06:00 and Wednesday evenings at 18:00.
There is a social running group, RunSocial, hosting a run every Thursday morning, staring from the Sea Point Pavilion at 05:55. The routes vary, the pace is social, it takes about an hour and everyone is welcome, as long as you wear socks (any colour). EVENTS: Details here...
Good luck to all the trail runners tackling the Ultra Trail Cape Town on Saturday. There are 35, 65 and 100 Km routes, all traversing sections of one of the Natural Seven Wonders of the World, Table Mountain and surrounds.
The Woolworths annual charity Triathlon, an off-road event, takes place on the Paul Cluver wine estate on Saturday.
On Sunday is the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour, formerly known as Die Burger. We suspect a large contingent of ATC’ers will be there, in a bid to improve their seeding for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour. Look out for us at the ATC Gazebo after your ride.

Future Events:
We are exactly two months away from Ironman 70.3 East London! If you have entered or are planning to, please join the Ironman TriClub program under Atlantic Triathlon Club. Benefits of doing an Ironman event as a Tri Club member include:
1) Get Pole Position! The three clubs with the highest number of registered members at a race will get priority bike racks, priority bib numbers and special TriClub swim caps.
2) Get on the podium with us! The coveted TriClub Podium Trophy is awarded to the club with the most points in each division (We are in division II).
3) Collect Points for Us! All points earned at the event goes towards our overall standings in the club league. We must maximise points at each race since we only have a few Ironman events in South Africa.
4) Get us some free entries! For every 20 entrants under our TriClub, we get a free entry into the event. We can convert this to funds for our development or perhaps to help someone to get to the 2017 EMEA TriClub Championship Final taking place at IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona, on 20 May 2018. We are planning a tour to the champs.
All of the above is only applicable to entrants who register with Ironman TriClub as part of the as part of the Atlantic Triathlon Club, before 28 December 2017. Registration is free!
So, if you have entered, or are planning to, please make sure you are registered with TriClub through the link below:
We have published the list of Ironman 70.3 East London entrants, who are currently TriClub members, further down.
