TRAINING THIS WEEK:  Details here...

Our club training plans will change to the winter schedule after Ironman South Africa, taking place next weekend.

SWIM:  Today was the last Friday morning canal swim until spring.  Next week we will not have a swim as most of us will be in Port Elizabeth for Ironman.  The following week will see the swim move to the Saturday afternoon slot at 16:00.  Over the past couple of weeks some of the swimmers have suffered minor cuts due to the Barnacles growing on the floating pontoon.  To prevent this we have decided to install a travellator to lift swimmers safely onto the fixed jetty, thereby bypassing the pontoon.  As you may have noticed this morning, there was a crane parked next to the jetty where we start the swim.  The crane belongs to Arkwa Aprillia, a company specialising in manufacturing and installing aqua-marine travellators. Arkwa Aprillia reported that the travellator will be ready by Saturday 16 April, when our next canal swim will take place.  To cover costs, we will charge swimmers R25 per “lift”.

BIKE:  We will resume our club rides after Ironman.  The Thursday morning ride will be a mountain bike ride and weekend rides will start a bit later and will be somewhat shorter.

RUN:  Our track sessions will continue as normal throughout winter.  The Thursday, club run will change to a trail run.

EVENTS:  Details here...

On Saturday, weather permitting, is the Freedom Swim.  Good luck to all the swimmers taking part!  The 1SOMS swim, taking place on Sunday, has been moved to the Camps Bay tidal pool due to the large swell expected.

On Sunday is the Dirtopia All Mountain Enduro, which will take place on the Delvera Farm, outside Stellenbosch.

The Telkom AC 10K Road run takes place on Saturday at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, in Bellville.
