New TRI Season – 70.3 Pula – Legends Challenge

NEWS:

Double Century
In the frenzy that ensued last week, ATC managed to secure a team entry for the Double Century.  And since then we have managed to secure another entry!  If you would like to be part of one of the ATC teams, please reply to this email and let us know ASAP.  We’ve had a lot of requests already and requests received after today’s email will be added to the list.  We will send all interested riders more information later this week.

ATC Office
A lot of committee members will be away for the second half of September so we urge all members to collect gear and licenses required for events such as the Cape Town Marathon, the Cape Ultra Tri and the Freshpak Clanwilliam Festival, this week or next week.  The ATC Office and shop will be open before and after all the Tuesday (05:30 – 07:30) and Wednesday (17:00 – 20:00) Track Sessions for gear and license collection.  We will not be able to issue licenses or gear for these events after Wednesday 14 September.

New Triathlon Season – TSA Licenses
The new Triathlon Season started on 1 September.  That means that you will need a 2016-17 License for any Triathlon or Duathlon event taking place from 1 September onwards.  Triathlon South Africa (TSA) has now also implemented the MOBII registration system (which was used by WPT last season) and athletes are now requested to register and pay directly on the TSA website.  Once on the TSA site, you select REGISTER from the Home Page and then WP TRIATHLON from the Registration Page.  You will be guided to the MOBII Registration System.

For Western Cape / Province Athletes it is compulsory to belong to a club in order to register for a TSA license.   You select your club when you register and the membership will be verified between the Association and Club in the background.

Please check the full procedure for TSA Registration on our Triathlon Affiliation Page or download the procedure below.

License rates for early bird registrations (before November 2016) will remain the same as last year.  That is R450 for a Senior Full Racing License, R280 for a Senior Recreational License and R350 for a Junior Racing License.  After November the fees will increase.

We urge all ATC Members to register as soon as possible to avoid delays with obtaining a Triathlon License.  The season is off to a quick start with Ironman 70.3 Pula, Cape Ultra Tri and the Freshpak Festival within the first month.  With a large contingent of ATC’ers going to Croatia for 70.3 Pula, we would like all ATC registrations, required for races up to Slanghoek, to be completed before 12 September.

Ironman 70.3 PULA
Atlantic Triathlon Club will be competing in Division I of the Ironman TriClub European Championship Final in Pula, Croatia, on 18 September.  Over 30 ATC’ers will be doing the event, which was also selected by Embark as their international Triathlon Tour this year.  We wish all the ATC and Embark Athletes good luck with the race and tour!  A list of all the members going is included at the bottom of this email.  If your name is not listed, please let us know ASAP.

All Triathletes doing Ironman 70.3 Pula are invited to an informal information evening and chat, this Wednesday 7 September at 19:30 at the Green Point Cricket Club.

ATC Legends Challenge
This challenge is ATC’s version of a “Lang Asem” award, recognising members for consistent participation in events throughout the year.  The Legends season runs from October till September and this year members can claim points for up to 24 events completed during 1 October 2015 and 30 September 2016.  Pick your longest endurance events and lodge your claim as, the longer and tougher the event was, the more the points will be.

For more details and to claim your points, visit the ATC Legends Page.
