NEWS:
WPTA SGM and Committee
A reminder of the WP Triathlon Special General Meeting, which has been scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 19:00 at the Green Point Cricket Club. We urge registered triathletes to please attend the SGM as major changes to the WPTA constitution will be adopted at the SGM.
ATC Club Time Trial – Ford, FNB OneRun, New Balance
Last Wednesday, Jessica Cloete became the second winner in the Kelfords Win-a-Ford-for-a-Month lucky draw, which is held every month at our club time trial. Jessica selected the Ford Kuga and will enjoy this vehicle for a month.
Runner-up in the Ford competition, Douglas Robertson, received two upgrades to the Gold Package for the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN.
Bernard Griesel, who posted the fasted time for this weeks’ Time Trial, received two free entries for the ONERUN.
New Balance was also there, showcasing their latest shoes with shoe experts to answer runners’ technical questions. Runners also had the opportunity to trial the shoes for the Time Trial. ATC Members can visit the RUN shop in Bree Street at any time for advice on shoes and will receive 20% discount on any New Balance shoes or 10% discount on any other brand.
ATC Members can also get 20% discount on any gear from the New Balance Concept Store in Canal Walk.
ATC Club Champs – Standard Distance
The Durbanvillie Triathlon, taking place on the 16th of April will also double up as WP Duathlon Championships. Traditionally, ATC has used the WP Triathlon and Duathlon Championship events to select its Club Champs for the Standard Distance Triathlon and Duathlon. As there has not been a WP Triathlon Champs this season, ATC will use the Durbanville Triathlon event to select these champs. The first Male and Female ATC Members to finish the Durbanville Triathlon and Duathlon will be crowned ATC Champs for 2016 in these disciplines.
Entries for the Durbanville Triathlon and Duathlon close at midnight at the 11th of April 2016 or when capacity is reached. No late entries will be accepted. To enter, please visit: http://www.iqela-events.co.za/durbanville-tri/durbanville-tri-info.html

TRAINING: Details here...
Our club training plans will change to the winter schedule after Ironman South Africa, taking place this weekend.
SWIM: This Friday there will NOT BE A CANAL swim as most of us will be in Port Elizabeth for Ironman. Next week, from 16 April onwards, the swim will move to the Saturday afternoon slot at 16:00.
BIKE: We will resume our club rides after Ironman. The Thursday morning ride will be a mountain bike ride and weekend rides will start a bit later and will be somewhat shorter.
RUN: Our track sessions will continue as normal throughout winter. The Thursday, club run will change to a trail run.
EVENTS: Details here...
After a relatively quiet Triathlon Season we are blessed with three Triathlons / Duathlons this month. Whilst athletes doing Ironman this weekend have been focussing on that for the past three to six months, the other two events offer distances ranging from Standard to Super Sprint and can be entered at the drop of a hat. So if you’ve ever wanted to give a Triathlon or Duathlon a go, this is your month:
Ironman South Africa Championships, Sunday 9 April: You will be well aware of this event if you are doing it!
Durbanville Triathlon, Saturday 16 April: Swim-Bike-Run, 1.5-40-10 or .75-20-5
WP Duathlon Champs, Saturday 16 April: Run-Bike-Run, 10-40-5 or 5-20-2.5 or 2.5-10-1.25.
Discovery Duathlon Cape Town, Saturday 23 April. Run-Bike-Run, 10-40-5 or 5-20-2.5 or 2.5-10-2.5.
Discovery World Triathlon Cape Town, Sunday 24 April: Swim-Bike-Run, .75-40-10 or .5-20-5.
Ironman South Africa Championships:
Best of luck to all the ATC’ers taking part in Ironman on Sunday! Please scroll down for a list of the 70 or so ATC entrants and their race numbers. You can SMS your athletes’ Race Number(s) to 39408 to get updates on their progress throughout the day. SMS are charged at R15 per SMS and proceeds go to Ironman for the KIDS.
ATC and Embark will be set up along the course to support. Please let your supporters know to look for the ATC and Embark gazebos. We will confirm our location via Facebook and Twitter once we’ve set up. Supporters can also WhatsApp us on 0733083127 during the day.
If you still need to arrange transport for your Bike, reply to this email. We can transport bikes to and from PE for R500. Bikes need to be dropped off at the Green Point Cricket Club on Wednesday evening during track.
Other events this weekend:
On Saturday is the Ninety Niner Mountain Bike Challenge, which will take place at the Durbanville Racecourse.
On Saturday is the Cross Country Relay in Pinelands for teams of 5 runners.
FUTURE EVENTS:
Entries for these two trail runs open this week and will sell out quickly:
The Old Fisherman's Trail Challenge entries open tomorrow (Wednesday) 6 April 2016 at midday.
Entries for the 2017 Batrun will go live tomorrow (Wednesday) 6 April at 10:00.
Enjoy the week!
