Ironman African Championships

Rough sea conditions prompted Ironman organisers to shorten the swim to 1.6 Km.  After this, athletes faced a tough, windy bike ride before embarking on a run where the wind also played a major factor.  The wind got stronger as the day progresses and even the supporters’ gazebos had to be taken down in the late afternoon.  But the athletes soldiered on to complete the event in good spirits.

The Blue Lagoon Triathlon brought back memories of the heydays of Triathlon when Club Mykonos played host to WP and SA TRI Champs.  A thrilling event in a beautiful and fun setting!  We look forward to the next one.

The weekend in East London did not disappoint and even with a shortened swim, neither did the race.  What athletes gained with the quicker swim, shortened due to the rough conditions and presence of jelly fish, they left out on the highway with a brutal cross-wind on the return leg.

Red Hill Marathon & Classic

The Red Hill includes two distances.  A full marathon for those who want to qualify for an Ultra and the original 36 Km Classic.  In the Classic, the ATC team of Davide De Fante, Greg Goodall, Bernard Griesel and Dean Hopf posted the fastest combined time and won the club prize!  Greg also won the 35-39 AG and Timony Siebert was 3rd under the veteran ladies.
